What This Site Knows

Almost nothing, and nothing at all unless you choose to contact me. There is no account to create, no newsletter, and no comment box.

The site sets no cookies for visitors, uses no local storage, runs no analytics or tracking pixels, and loads no fonts, scripts or images from anyone else's server. There is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to. The one cookie the site can set is a sign-in session for me, the owner, when I log in to write a post. You will never be issued one.

The brief builder assembles what you type as you type it, in your browser. Nothing leaves your device until you press a button, and which button you press decides where it goes.

Send it to me posts the brief to this site, which immediately forwards it to a private Discord channel that only I can read, and keeps no copy. Discord is a third party and it is where the message then lives, under their terms. Copy the brief and Open my mail app both keep it on your device: the first puts it on your clipboard, the second hands it to your own mail application, and neither touches this site at all.

Nothing you type is written to a database here, because there is not one. Close the tab before pressing anything and what you typed is gone.

A brief sent through the form arrives in a Discord channel only I have access to. An email to hello@builtbydenney.co.uk arrives in my mail account. Either way I hold it so that I can reply to you and keep a record of what we agreed, I do not add you to a mailing list, and I do not pass your details to anyone else.

I keep enquiry emails for as long as they are useful, and correspondence relating to paid work for as long as I am required to keep business records. You can ask me to delete anything I hold about you and I will, unless I am legally required to keep it.

There is a single sign-in cookie, and it exists so that I can log in to write a blog post without typing a password every time. It holds a signed token proving the session is mine, nothing more: no name, no email, nothing about you. It lasts a few days and then expires.

It is set only after a successful sign-in, which only I can complete. Visiting any page as a reader sets nothing, which is why there is no consent banner.

The site is hosted by a third-party provider that, like every web host, records requests made to it. Those logs typically include an IP address, a timestamp and the page requested, and they exist so the host can run and secure the service. I do not use them to build any profile of you, and I do not combine them with anything else.

Under UK data protection law you can ask what I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and object to how I use it. In practice that means the emails between us, because there is nothing else.
